  1. 1. Summary
This paragraph is about a teenage boy that discovered the truth about Hitler after listening to a radio broadcast, this boy- Helmuth Hübener told all about his findings to his friends and got them tolisten to the broadcast. Later, they wrote essays and flyers summarizing this information and distributed them throught their town. Helmuth was sadly caught by the Gestapo and forced him to tell the names of the adult ringleaders, when he confessed that it was only him and his friends the Gestapo were shocked that teenagers would rebel like this. They were imprisoned for several months and then transferred to the highest German court, Helmuth was sentenced to death after six gruelling hours of court, his friends got several months of hard labour for reading the flyers.
    2. Feelings, Emotions and connections
I was shocked when I found out that BBc did broadcasts in German specifically for people like Helmuth, I felt relieved that Helmuth's friends did not get the sentence and empathetic that Helmuth did.
Some connections that I had was that I sometimes listen to radio, and that sometimes my friends would call me nuts.
    3. Opinion
I felt that Helmuth was very brave when deciding that they should make flyers and hand them out and when he was being tried in court.

This story is about a boy named Helmuth that takes place in Germany in the 1930s. Helmuth would listen to foreign radio stations even though it was illegal. One night,Helmuth tapped into the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC). Helmuth compared the BBC broadcasts to the German news. They didn't add up so Helmuth concluded that the Nazis were lying. Helmuth got help from his friends to spread the word. Later, Helmuth was sent to court and was sentenced to death.

I feel very sad that Helmuth was killed because he was trying to tell the people the truth. I also feel happy that Helmuth's friends helped him do something very risky and dangerous.

I think that this story is about standing up because the three boys stood up to all of Germany because of the Nazis lying to them. This story is about dishonesty because of the lies that Hitler told to all of the people in Germany. I also felt a strong sense of loyalty because of the oath they made, and when Helmuth took all of the blame from his friends

  3. 1.SUMMARY
The story took place after Hitler came to power in Germany. After making the law where Germans weren't aloud to listen to the foreign radio a 16 year old teenager finally stood up. 16 year old Helmuth heard BBC newscast saying (in German) that the nazis were lying to them. So after hearing this Helmuth made flyers with his friends saying "Hitler is the guilty one" and other bad things about the nazis and Hitler. After a while he got captured and beheaded (got his head cut off).

    2.FEELINGS/EMOTIONS/CONNECTIONS
A connection I made was that Helmuth does stuff that he's not aloud to do because I also do stuff that I'm not aloud to do. I also feel saddened that Helmuth had to die for just telling the truth because that just seems unfair to me. But even though Helmuth died I was pretty happy his friends didn't die to.

    3.OPINION
I think Helmuth was a very brave person since he stood up to the nazis and he kept his pact even though he knew he was doomed in the court. I think the story was very interesting mostly because of Helmuth being so brave. Some reasons I think he's brave is that he went against the nazi's ridiculous law and when going to trial he took all the blame just so his friends could survive.

Summery- this story was about a boy named Helmuth who got a radio and listened to a foreign radio broadcast, he then realized that the Natzi's were lying to the German people. So his friendsand him put up posters around town saying that Hitler was killing innocent people. this went on for a few months when they were finally caught by police. Helmuth got his head cut off and one of his friends got 5 years in jail and the other got 10

Feelings- I felt that Helmuth and his friends did the right thing by trying to tell the truth. "Soon he realized the reports didn't add up"

poinion-I think that the story was well written but I would have liked to know more about helmuth's older half brother "early 1941 a young soilder returning home from france brought home with him a broken radio.

This story is about a 16 year old german boy named Helmuth. During WWII Helmuthe gets his hands on a raidio and listens to a forbbiden radio station called BBC. He compares war news on BBC and in Germany and they don't match up. Helmuth then writes fliers on the truth on the war and gets his friends to hand them out. They get caught and Helmuth is sentanced to death but his friends survive.
I'm very mad that the Germans would kill someone for telling the truth, Let alone a 16 year old boy. I hate the Holocaust even more now. The fact that people would kill some one for that really bugs me.

In my opinion even thinking about beheading a kid is just wrong. No one should have to put up with living like this and if they do they should stand up for them selves. People need to stand up weather it's Hitler or a bully we all can and thats what Helmuth was doing I honour him for that. What Helmuth said was " Ihaven't committed a crime. All I did was tell the truth." He's right and this is how this story made me feel.

    1. SUMMARY
Resisting Hitler is about a 16 year boy called Helmuth who rebels against Hitler. It starts when Helmuth is listening to the BBC Broadcast on a radio given to him by his older half-brother, when the German News has a story about the war, Helmuth realizes that the Nazis are lying to the Germans. Helmuth and his friends Karl and Rudi decide to give out essays explaining how the Nazis are lying to the Germans, sadly, Helmuth is captured by the Gestapo who demanded Karl and Rudis names, later on, they were also captured. In the trial, the lawyer focused on Helmuth, who received the death sentence, while Karl received five years of hard labor, and Rudi received five years of hard labor because he had implicated himself more during interrogation.

    2. FEELINGS
I am shaken due to the fact that the Nazis gave the death sentence to a mere teenager.

    3. OPINION
I believe that Helmuth, Karl, and Rudi did the right thing, trying to get the truth out to the Germans by Writing the essays.

  9. 1.Summary
This article is about 17 year old Helmuth Hubener who listened to BBC broadcasts in German and discovered the real truth about what the Germans were doing. After discovering the truth he informed his friends and together they made posters saying 'Hitler the liar' etc and put them up around the city. People reported these posters in and the boys got caught. Helmuth got sentenced to death and his two friends received 5 and 10 years of imprisonment and hard labor. Helmuth was beheaded two months later at age 17.

    2.Feelings/Connection
I hold mixed feelings towards this article. I'm very surprised that the boys would risk their lives just because they were unhappy with the government and its laws. My sympathy towards Helmuth is great because he was beheaded for telling the truth which the Germans deserved to know. As he said "I did not commit any crime, i just told the truth."

The connection I have here is how people are raising awareness about the presence of Kony a Lords Resistance Army leader. This group is considered as terrorists. People are putting up posters around the country, and preparing informative handouts/videos. They are making him known for his cruel actions just like Helmuth and his buddies did to bring forth attention on Hitlers dishonesty.

    3.Opinion
I think that Helmuth was very brave to stand up to the government. He was very loyal to his friend by making a pact not to give up his friends names. I believe that Hitler was dishonoring himself when he prevaricated to his country and i find that awful. After reading this i have the urge to know more about this awful and disgusting Holocaust and why Hitler did this.We need to stand up for ourselves and others. This is what the article taught me.

SUMMARY: The article was about a boy who listened to the radio and his name was Helmuth Hubener. Helmuth told the people about how Naxzis were lying to the Germans. Helmuth Gave papers to everyone about it and than the government found out and got mad. When the government found out, they beheaded and killed Helmuth.

FEELINGS: After reading this article I felt sad because Helmuth got killed just for trying to help by telling the truth to the Germans and also it made me feel mad too.

OPINION: In my opinion I think it is mean by beheading and killing Helmuth just for trying to help. I think people shouldn't have beheaded and killed kids especially Helmuth when he was helping the Germans by telling the truth and handing out papers.

  11. "Resisting Hitler"

    1. Summary

Helmuth was a 17 year old boy, his half-brother, who is a soldier, gave Helmuth a broken radio. Helmuth fixed it and realized while listening to the radio that the Nazi's were lying to everyone. One night, Helmuth invited his best friend, Karl-Heinz, to the apartment and he heard it for the first time, weeks later, Rudi, who is 15 years old joined them. They took flyer's that they made and put them in apartments, mailboxes, phone booths, and other public places. Then one day, the gestapo arrested Helmuth. The three boys went to Berlin for their trial. The court sentenced Helmuth to death, he collapsed when he heard it. Then he said "I haven't commited any crime, all I've done is tell the truth". He was beheaded two months later.

    2. Feelings/Emotions/Connections

I felt sad at the end because Helmuth was beheaded but all he did was tell the truth. A self-to-world connection that I have is that someone named Joseph Kony is kidnapping kids in Uganda right now, but the difference between him and Hitler is that Hitler, instead of kidnapping people, was killing people instead. Osama Bin Laden is also someone who has killed many people but not as much as Hitler.

    3. Opinion

In my opinion, I don't think that Helmuth should have died because all he did was tell the truth, something that the Nazi's did not do. I think the Nazi's should have been arrested for lying.

    1. Questions

      What is a Gestapo?
      A German police.

Why did Helmuth's half-brother give him a broken radio?
Maybe his half-brother knew that Helmuth could fix it.

What made the court think that Helumth's "crime" was worth a death sentence?
Maybe they over exaggerated because Helmuth gave away a secret that was very important.

    1. In 1941, 16yr old Helmuth Hubener listened to a German-language newcast on BBC and concluded that the Nazi's were lying to Germans because of the different war reports. After showing BBC to Karl-Heinz Schnibbe and Rudi Wobbe, his friends, Helmuth distributed flyers explaining the lies around Hamburg. All three were later arrested and since Helmuth took most of the blame he was executed while his friends received years of hard labour; Karl got 5 years and Rudi got 10.

When Hitler was in power ( mid-1930's ) it was illegal to listen to foreign radio. One night a 16 year old boy named Halmuth Hubener broke that law. Soon by listening to a radio broadcast named BBC he found the truth that hitler was evil.Hamulth got two close friends help him give out flyers saying the truth that hitler was a murder ect. Halmuth and his two friends got sent to court and was found guilty and was sentenced to death. Halmuth died in 1942 but saved both his friends lives.

    FEELINGS AND EMOTIONS...
There was only one thing going through my head when i read Resisting Hitler, that was Halmuth is a strong and brave teenager.Halmuth saved both his both his friends lives but by doing that he had to die that is amazing ! A connection i hae to this story is when my sister and me were fighting she punched me in the face and gave me a black eye ._. but i didn't blame it on her i said i bumped my head on my moms dashboard.

    OPINION...
I think the story Resisting Hitler was very well written. I think its disgusting how Hitler would kill kids and adults even if he didnt kill them by hand he still let it happen and that is horrible !! i really like this story and i think ots of kids could relate in some way :D

  28. 1.) Summary
Helmuth started posting fliers in public places, like phone booths, apartment buildings, mailboxes and other public places. A co-worker of Helmuth reported him to the Nazis. Six months later Helmuth and his friend were sent to the "Blood Court". Karl received five years of hard labour for reading the leaflets. Rudy received 10 years in prison for implicating himself. Helmuth was found guilty and sentenced to death. Because of helmet and his friends handing out the leaflets, some of the Germans and the Jews knew the truth.

    2. Feelings
I feel mad, because Hitler was lying to the Germans. Helmuth compared the reports from the BBC News and the German News and realized they were not the same. Then he found out that Hitler was lying to all the people.

    3. Opinion
I like the article because it shows that when people seem good, they may not be be.
